The Splendor That Is Dior (Part 1)
E-Com Fashion Visits the Christian Dior Exhibit in NY
If one was to put together history pieces of an iconic Parisian fashion house, the Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams in Brooklyn did not only perfect the storyline but also, and more importantly, it transported visitors to the glories that House of Dior had established from its first haute couture collection in 1947 up to the present.
That is why E-Com Fashion refused to miss this grandeur of an event. We are as thrilled as we were in the exhibit to share with you our immersion into this impressive display at the Brooklyn Museum.
A single blog will not do justice; hence we will present this in two parts – showcasing a series of breathtaking images that will weave together the House’s history that revolutionized fashion from Christian Dior himself to his successors, and from Paris to New York.
Part 1: The Essence of Dior
Dubbed the “New Look”, the iconic Bar jacket and Christian Dior’s first haute couture collection opened doors for him to visit New York and other fashionable US cities and expand his label around the world.
Christian Dior drew inspiration from the 18th century fashion with corsets and panniers.
The House of Dior attracted leading magazines and major photographers. Reminiscent ofclassical ballet, these images used prominent streets and buildings in Paris; and many of these images have become iconic.
